Jinn

Born and raised in Malaysia, he is deeply in love with his Malaysian food and serves as the Manager of YBD Dive Centre.

 

He has been diving for almost 20 years now and shows no signs of slowing down—except when it comes to his weight loss. A passionate scuba instructor, he finds pure satisfaction in seeing his students become certified divers. His favourite marine life is the nudibranch, which he fondly calls them the “Pokemon of the underwater world.”

 

He is currently on a journey to level up his skills in technical diving and aspires to become a Course Director one day.

 

When he is not in the water, he enjoys playing volleyball, football, and video games.

Mian

A true aficionado of the ocean’s wonders. From the graceful glide of sharks to the complex behaviours of cephalopods, marine creatures never fail to capture her imagination. She has also recently developed an appreciation for corals, captivated by their intricate structures, fascinating shapes and rich array of colours.

 

With a mission to reveal the boundless beauty of the blue realm, Mian invites curious souls to join her on a journey of discovery. Some of the PADI specialty ratings she holds include Deep Diver, Wreck Diver, Enriched Air Diver and AWARE Coral Reef Conservation.

 

However, Mian’s expertise extends beyond the sea. With background as a stargazing guide in one of the world’s largest dark sky reserves, she offers a celestial experience like no other. Join her for a mesmerizing night under the stars by our training pool, where stories of the cosmos intertwine with tales from the deep.

Dani

Based in the Caribbean, Dani began life as a dinghy sailor and windsurfer. Young Dani found speed exhilarating, and started competitive racing at age 10. While visiting Thailand, she discovered diving, rising through the professional ranks while exploring South East Asia. For her, diving is a way of resistance, a way of remembering how important the oceanic world is, which is why she loves teaching!

 

As well as Open Water, Dani teaches specialties like Wreck, Nitrox and Deep. Her favourite animals to spot in the water are nudibranchs and cephalopods. She loves sharks too. On the side, Dani writes stories, most of them based on dreams.

Joshua

Fresh from the shores of sunny South Africa our instructor Josh is an underwater fanatic. Some of his favourite marine life is the yellow box fish and manta rays with a larger interest in the smaller critters you may see.

 

Beginning his journey from zero to hero in the diving world of Thailand to Indonesia our instructor is well versed in the different oceanic wonders that lay beneath the surface.

 

Josh’s dual expertise in scuba diving and aviation creates an unparalleled learning experience, offering insights into the parallels between soaring through the skies and gliding beneath the waves. Join Josh on an unforgettable journey and discover the thrill of the underwater world with an instructor who sees the ocean from a truly unique perspective.

Joshua

Suyeon

Suyeon has been passionate about diving since 2018 when she took her PADI Open Water course in the Philippines. In 2023, she became a PADI Instructor and now splits her time between working and studying. She’s an explorer who loves traveling the world to dive! As of 2023, she has logged over 1,000 dives.

 

Her passion is teaching scuba students to become the best divers they can be, and she’s known for her ability to put her students at ease with her friendly and student-centric teaching style.

 

Besides diving, she also loves chocolate, fruits, books, and summertime. Her favorite marine creature is the seahorse.

Cole

Our in-house Marine Biologist – man in charge for the Coral Discovery Centre and Coral Propagation Project. His favourite marine creatures are Cephalopods. He is also a certified PADI Divemaster ready to bring you out on underwater adventures.

 

Out of the water, he loves his guitar and food. He might look big and scary, but he is just a gentle giant. He loves working out and lifting extremely heavy objects.

Cole

Suzy

Suzy is our certified divemaster from the Netherlands and just like most Dutchies she has two things in common: being tall and love spending time in the water! Starting her dive journey in 2017 in Thailand, she decided to do her Divemaster course in Malaysia 3 years later and has been happily guiding divers in the underwater world at Perhentian Islands since then. Why Malaysia you may ask? Well, apart from observing fishies she’s a big fan of the Malaysian cuisine.

Hafiz

He’s a weightlifting enthusiast who loves to eat and work out, making him our go-to compressor operator and technician! He aspires to be a dive professional one day, and his favorite sea creature is the Sea Cucumber—ask him why. You can definitely rely on Hafiz to assist with equipment and ensure regular servicing for the best experience.

Hafiz
